Certification
All coaches within GHBA are encouraged to obtain formal
certification and training through NCCP Baseball coaching clinics
and courses. These range from basic introductory level technical
courses (also called Initiation Coach), through to more advanced Level
2 and 3 Technical and Theory courses.
Technical clinics are
often run within Victoria during March. Theory and other
advanced courses may be run at any time. Further details on
available and upcoming clinics and the NCCP Certification program,
please refer to the Baseball BC web site at:
http://www.baseball.bc.ca/nccp/
Please note that any coaches wishing to coach a summer all-star
team at either the Pee Wee or Mosquito level are required to have a
minimum level of certification in place.
Please note that Gordon Head Baseball will
reimburse coaches for any fees incurred for these courses.

The 2008 Bantam AAA Vipers Baseball Team capped a tremendous
season by receiving Team of the Year Award at the November 22 AGM of
the BC Minor Baseball Association in Surrey. In August the Vipers
won both the Provincial and National Championships and had an
overall record record of 56 and 10 in 2008. Preparations are
continuing for the Bantam AAA Vipers 09 (players born in 1994) and
their developmental team the Bantam AAA Bears 09 (born in 1995).
All experienced coaches who are interested in the manager/head
coach position for either the Vipers 09 or Bears 09 are now invited
to submit applications by the deadline of December 11. For details
on the application process go to:
www.victoriabaseball.com
In order to be considered as the
manager/head coach of the Bears or the Vipers (please indicate which
team you are applying for), you must send an email and an attached
resume that provide a strong case for your suitability as a Bantam
AAA manager/head coach. This application should includes information
that includes: your baseball coaching experiences and successes;
your NCCP certification; the
philosophy and approach you would take in coaching a greater
Victoria high performance baseball team
Following a review of the applications by a sub-committee of
GVMBA, a short list of the applicants will be interviewed. The two
managers will be chosen before Christmas. Indoor training for Bears
and Vipers 09 prospects will begin on Sunday January 18 at the Oak
Bay Recreation Centre. Applications must be
emailed to tony-casey@shaw.ca
